FORGE-BUSH
ETERNAL
D2 mold steel (ASTM D2, UNS T30402, corresponding to W-Nr. 1.2379, JIS SKD11, GB/T Cr12Mo1V1, implementing ASTM A681 standard) is internationally recognized as a classic high carbon and high chromium cold work mold steel, often referred to as "semi stainless steel", and is the main force material for precision cold stamping, shearing, and forming molds.
Cr12Mo1V1 Chemical Composition
C | Si | Mn | Cr | Mo | V | P/S |
1.4%~1.6% | ≤0.6% | ≤0.6% | 11%~13% | 0.7%~1.2% | 0.5%-1.1% | ≤0.03% |
Cr12Mo1V1 Heat Treatment
1. Annealing (softening, convenient for processing)
Heating: 850-880 ℃ insulation
Slow cooling along with the furnace
Hardness: ≤ 255 HB
2. Quenching
Preheating: 500-600 ℃, 800-850 ℃ two times preheating
Quenching temperature: 1020-1040 ℃ for insulation
Cooling: Both air-cooled and oil cooled can be quenched and hardened
3. Tempering (key)
Temperature: 180-220 ℃
Frequency: 2-3 times, each time ≥ 2h
Purpose: To relieve stress, stabilize dimensions, and improve toughness
Final hardness: 60-62 HRC
Feature
High hardness, high wear resistance
After quenching and tempering, it can reach 60-62 HRC, with good wear resistance, suitable for long-term cutting and high wear conditions.
Good hardenability and minimal heat treatment deformation
High chromium cold working steel can be quenched by air cooling, and large-sized molds can also be hardened as a whole, with stable dimensions.
Good corrosion resistance
High chromium content, known as "semi stainless steel", less prone to rusting than ordinary mold steel.
High strength and good compression resistance
Suitable for embossing, molding, and cold extrusion.
Application
Cold stamping die, blanking die, edge cutting die, stainless steel sheet/silicon steel sheet stamping die
Stretch die, bending die, cold extrusion die
Rolling wheel, rolling plate, cutting tool, cutting blade
Wear resistant block, ejector pin, precision measuring tool, fixture
Wear resistant parts such as cutting tools, blades, woodworking knives, etc
