Forging process of duplex stainless steel smelted in vacuum oxygen-argon decarburization converter
Adopting appropriate forging processes can effectively adjust the ratio of α phase and γ phase in dual-phase steel forgings, thereby enhancing the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the forgings: (1) Heating the cold ingot of duplex stainless steel to 1160~1180℃ for cogging and elongation forging, and crushing the as-cast crystalline structure of duplex stainless steel can refine the grain size of the billet. Water cooling after forging effectively prevents the precipitation of harmful phases such as σ. (2) After the second heating forging process, the billet undergoes upsetting and drawing, leading to further grain refinement. Various casting defects diffuse at high temperatures, dispersing uniformly or being eliminated.

Analysis of the reasons for the decrease in toughness of duplex stainless steel forgings
When inspecting the quality of a 22Cr duplex stainless steel forging flange, it was found that some forgings had particularly poor toughness. Analysis of the reasons revealed that the fundamental reason for the decrease in toughness of the 22Cr duplex stainless steel flange was the formation of intermetallic precipitates in its microstructure. When the intermetallic precipitates reach a certain level, the toughness of the material will significantly decrease.

Research on Quenching Process of Martensitic Stainless Steel Large Section Forging
Comparison results of hardness, microstructure, and room temperature transverse mechanical properties were obtained through three different quenching processes during the actual quenching and tempering of 500mm forged large round bars. The final decision was made to use water air alternating cooling as the optimal quenching cooling process, and the overall hardness deviation of the steel after one tempering was ≤ 2.5HRC. The core tissue is composed of uniformly tempered martensite and a small amount of residual austenite, and the transverse tensile performance of the steel core at room temperature is the highest. During quenching, alternating water air cooling is used, resulting in the shortest total quenching time and highest production efficiency. As a quenching medium, water has the advantages of low price, no pollution, and stable performance, making it the preferred quenching cooling medium for quenching and tempering plants.
