FORGE-S
ETERNAL
32Cr3Mo1V hot work die steel has high strength, good toughness, good hardenability, high temperature plasticity, good forging performance, and good machinability. It is generally used after tempering, normalizing, and high-temperature tempering.
Essence: Medium-carbon Cr-Mo-V heat-resistant alloy forging. The roll sleeve is a hollow cylinder, assembled with a roll core made of materials such as 42CrMo via interference fit. In service, it withstands high temperature of approximately 600℃ from molten aluminum, cyclic rapid heating and cooling, rolling pressure, and friction, making it a key component determining the service life and cost of the casting-rolling line.

32Cr3Mo1V Feature
High strength: This steel has high strength and can withstand large working loads.
Good toughness: 32Cr3Mo1V has good toughness and can withstand impact and vibration, reducing the risk of fracture.
Good hardenability: The hardenability of steel refers to the uniformity and completeness of its structural transformation during quenching. The hardenability of 32Cr3Mo1V is good, which can obtain a uniform and fine structure, thereby improving the performance of the steel.
High temperature plasticity: This steel has good plasticity at high temperatures and can withstand significant deformation without cracking.
Good forging performance: 32Cr3Mo1V is easy to forge and process, and can be made into various complex shaped molds and parts.
Good machinability: Steel is easy to cut and can be conveniently made into the desired shape and size.
Roll Sleeve Production Process
Vacuum refining+electroslag remelting: strict control of P, S, and residual elements to reduce segregation and inclusions;
Forging+post forging heat treatment: upsetting- punching hole- expanding forming;
920 ± 10 ℃ uniform hot air cooling+720 ± 10 ℃ high-temperature tempering slow cooling, completely eliminating forging stress and refining grain size;
Rough machining+heat treatment: 900 ± 10 ℃ austenitization water quenching, 580 ± 10 ℃ high-temperature tempering air cooling;
Precision machining+non-destructive testing (UT/MT/PT): inner hole and outer circle precision grinding, with interference fit controlled at 0.04-0.08 mm;
Surface strengthening (optional): laser cladding cobalt based alloy, plasma welding, nitriding, industrial frequency quenching,further improving surface wear resistance and thermal fatigue resistance;
Assembly+Dynamic Balance: Combining hot/cold installation with roller core for dynamic balance testing.
Mechanical Properties
Room Temperature:
Yield strength: approx. 1300 MPa, tensile strength: approx. 1420 MPa, elongation: 15%, reduction of area: 60%, impact value AKV₂ ≈ 60 J, hardness: approx. 421 HB (equivalent to 41–43 HRC).
Elevated Temperature (630 °C):
Yield strength: approx. 748 MPa, tensile strength: approx. 830 MPa, which can meet the high-temperature service requirements of cast-rolling rolls.
Core Advantages:
Excellent resistance to temper softening, slow initiation and propagation of thermal fatigue cracks, and good retention of high-temperature hardness.
