4330V / 4330V MOD is an ultra high strength alloy steel, which belongs to the top-level material for rolling cutter shells in raise boring drilling rigs. It is harder, more resilient, and has stronger impact resistance than common 42CrMo and H13, and is specifically designed for ultra hard rocks(>120MPa), deep wells, and high impact conditions.
Compared with conventional 42CrMo and H13 steels:
Excellent combination of high strength and toughness: superior impact resistance, chipping resistance and fatigue resistance. The cutter ring is less prone to fracture when working in hard rock and broken formations.
Outstanding hardenability: Full through-hardening is achievable even for large-section thick cutter rings, delivering uniform hardness and a structure featuring tough core and hard surface.
High low-temperature toughness: Resists brittle fracture in deep wells and low-temperature environments.
Optimized balance between wear resistance and crack resistance: Service life is over 30% longer than that of 42CrMo, making it ideal for long-term high-load drilling operations.

ETERNAL roller cutters have been exported to many countries,including Brazil , Chile, Mexico, Russian, Korea, Vietnam, India etc.



MOD=high nickel (2.0-2.5%)+high vanadium(0.15-0.30%)+ ultra pure(P ≤ 0.015%, S ≤ 0.005%) +remelting.
After the same heat treatment, MOD has been comprehensively improved in terms of "strength+toughness+impact resistance", especially in low-temperature/hard rock impact conditions(tensile strength : min 1250 MPa, yield strength : min 1100 MPa, impact value(-40℃) : min 60J).
4330V is suitable for rocks such as F6–F12 (60–120 MPa), sandstone, limestone, common granite, interbedded soft and hard rock.
4330V MOD is suitable for rocks such as F12–F18 (120–250 MPa), high-strength granite, basalt, diorite, highly abrasive hard rock, fractured zones with heavy impact loads.
4330V MOD is an upgraded version of 4330V featuring refined metallurgy and adjusted chemical composition. For raise boring cutters, 4330V MOD is better suited for large-diameter, deep borehole operations in hard rock and under heavy impact conditions. 4330V is mainly applied to conventional medium-hard rock, as well as boreholes of small and medium diameters with moderate depths.
